Rising clashes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border have forced tens of thousands of children from their homes in eastern Afghanistan.
The group reports that around 68,000 children have had to flee their communities, escaping violence and insecurity in search of safer areas.
It warns that ongoing fighting could seriously impact children’s lives, education, and health, and is urging the international community to step in with support.

The Taliban say there’s been no fighting with Pakistan over the past 24 hours.

Pakistan’s defense minister says the conflict with the Taliban began when the group took over Afghanistan, and that they’ve been relentlessly targeting Pakistani cities and civilians ever since.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said China’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, met with Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

In its latest report, the Center for Freedom of Expression says the number of women journalists in Afghanistan has dropped sharply since the Taliban took over Kabul.
