In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said China’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, met with Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The ministry said the two sides talked about expanding ties between Afghanistan and China, recent political developments in the region, and the latest incidents involving Pakistan on Afghan territory.

According to the statement, the Chinese envoy said Beijing wants the issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan resolved through dialogue and diplomatic channels to keep tensions from rising. He added that China is also in contact with Pakistani officials and is working to help ease strains between the two countries.

For his part, Amir Khan Muttaqi outlined Afghanistan’s position on Pakistan’s military actions, saying Kabul favors resolving disputes peacefully rather than through conflict. He stressed that preventing further escalation is crucial, but defending the country and its people remains Afghanistan’s legitimate right.
