Local sources in Nangarhar say that a female doctor in the province has been killed by unidentified armed men.
Sources reported on Monday, 1 Saratan, that Dr. Gulalai was killed last night in the Sheikh Misri township of Surkh Rod district.
According to the sources, Dr. Gulalai worked in a Taliban-controlled institution in Pachiragam district of Nangarhar.
The sources added that unidentified gunmen went to the doctor’s home and killed her there.
They further stated that her father was also beaten by the attackers and suffered a broken arm.
The sources also noted that Dr. Gulalai had, a few months earlier, complained in an audio message about alleged improper demands made by some Taliban members.
The killing comes amid ongoing concerns over rising criminal activity and targeted insecurity in several provinces of the country.
