Local sources in Chah Ab district of Takhar province say that armed men have attacked a Chinese gold-mining company in the Chanarak area of the district.
According to the sources, the attack took place at around 11 p.m. on Saturday. The attackers used light and heavy weapons to target the company’s operational site, resulting in an armed confrontation with its guards.
Local residents told the media that the sound of gunfire continued for more than half an hour following the clash.
No further details have so far emerged regarding the circumstances of the attack, possible casualties, or the extent of the damage caused.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and Taliban officials have not commented on the incident.
