The Taliban’s ministry of mines and Petroleum says construction work on a major cement plant will begin tomorrow, Sunday, in Zindajan District of Herat Province.
According to the ministry, the project represents an investment of $143 million and will be implemented by Gulbahar Cement Company.
The plant is expected to have a production capacity of 3,000 tonnes of cement per day.
The Ministry of Mines expects the construction phase to create employment opportunities for around 5,000 people. Once completed, the project is also expected to increase Afghanistan’s overall cement production capacity.
It is worth noting that the Taliban had also announced the start of construction work on the plant in Zindajan District of Herat in 2024
