The United States central command (CENTCOM) has announced that it has launched a new wave of strikes against military targets in Iran.
CENTCOM stated that the operations have continued for the ninth consecutive night and are aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities, which, according to the United States, are being used to threaten commercial vessels and civilian maritime traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Central Command added that the strikes are targeting military facilities and capabilities that it considers a threat to regional maritime security. However, it has not provided details regarding the exact locations of the strikes, the extent of the damage, or any potential casualties.
Meanwhile, residents in several Iranian cities have reported hearing explosions. Some Iranian media outlets and social media users have also shared reports of explosions, although no official information has yet been released regarding the locations or causes of these incidents.
Iranian officials have not yet issued an official response to CENTCOM’s latest strikes.
The attacks are continuing amid heightened military tensions between the United States and Iran, with growing concerns that the security situation in the Middle East could further deteriorate.
