Local sources say that Pakistan carried out airstrikes on parts of Kandahar city at around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, 2 Mizan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, confirmed the strikes to Afghan media, saying that the targeted area was an open desert area in District 9 of Kandahar city.
According to Mujahid, there were no casualties as a result of the strikes.
Meanwhile, a number of Kandahar residents reported hearing several successive explosions in parts of the city.
Separately, reports have emerged of an attack on a Taliban military base in central Paktia, as well as strikes in the Sahra Bagh and Camp areas of Khost district. The Taliban have not yet issued an official statement regarding these reports.
The strikes come three days after Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Kunar and Paktika provinces. According to the Taliban’s earlier statement, three people, including a woman, were killed in those attacks, while four others, including two women, were injured.
Pakistan has not yet issued an official statement regarding the latest airstrikes in Afghanistan.
