Residents of Herat Province have complained about frequent power outages during the scorching summer days, saying the problem persists even as temperatures have exceeded 40°C on some days. They say no effective measures have yet been taken to address the issue.
Local sources said on Sunday, 19 July that electricity is cut several times a day across different parts of Herat city. According to the sources, water supply is also disrupted in many areas whenever electricity is cut, further compounding residents’ difficulties.
Residents say the continued power outages during the intense summer heat have made daily life increasingly difficult. They note that children, the elderly, and people with medical conditions are among those most severely affected by the repeated disruptions to electricity and water services.
Citizens of Herat emphasize that power outages and water shortages during the summer are not new problems. They say these issues recur every year, yet no sustainable or long-term solution has been implemented.
Residents have called on the Taliban authorities to take serious and practical steps to ensure a reliable supply of electricity and water and to address the challenges facing the public.
In addition to disrupting daily life, the recurring power outages have also affected commercial, service, and economic activities, raising growing concerns among residents about the continuation of the situation.
