The X account of Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for Yemen’s Houthi movement, has been suspended.
Al Jazeera reported early Thursday, August 13, that the reason for the suspension remains unclear. The account’s page currently displays only the message, “Account suspended.”
According to the report, Yahya Saree’s now-suspended X account had more than 121,000 followers and served as the Houthis’ primary platform for announcing attacks in the Red Sea.
This comes amid recent tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia. The Houthis have said they will not allow Saudi oil to be exported through the Red Sea.
However, it remains unclear whether the suspension of the Houthi spokesperson’s account is related to the tensions with Saudi Arabia.
