The Taliban’s police command in Nangarhar says it has rescued a woman in Kuz Kunar district who had allegedly been held captive in a dark room for approximately eight months.
Sayed Tayeb Hamad, spokesperson for the Taliban’s police command, said on Saturday, 17 Asad, that the woman was rescued during an operation at a house in Tarano village, Kuz Kunar district.
According to him, one person has also been arrested in connection with the incident and reportedly confessed to the crime during preliminary investigations.
The Taliban have not provided further details about the circumstances of the incident or the reason the woman was held captive for eight months.
This comes as authorities have previously reported preventing similar incidents in several provinces involving domestic violence and the confinement of women.
