Sources in Kunar province report that dozens of mandarin saplings were destroyed last night in an orchard in the province.
According to the sources, the orchard is located in the village of “Goro Kachi” in the Manogi district of Kunar province.
The sources added that the incident occurred on Sunday,28 of June.
Information indicates that the orchard was planted about four years ago, and a significant number of the planted saplings had already reached the fruit-bearing stage.
The exact number of destroyed saplings has not yet been determined.
However, the perpetrators of the incident have not been identified so far, and local authorities have not commented on the matter.
This comes at a time when the Taliban have repeatedly claimed to have ensured nationwide security in the country, while incidents of destruction and violence have still been reported in some areas.
