CBS News has reported that the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has confirmed that 100 American service members were injured in Iranian attacks. The figures were released by Pentagon officials in the latest update.
Sean Parnell, a senior Pentagon spokesperson, said that the personnel were injured between July 7 and July 20 during attacks on U.S. military bases in the Middle East. According to him, nearly 100 service members sustained various levels of injuries.
Parnell added that approximately 96 percent of the injured personnel returned to duty after receiving medical treatment. He also stated that the majority of the reported injuries involved “mild traumatic brain injuries.”
The Pentagon has also recently confirmed the deaths of four U.S. service members at American military bases in Jordan and Iraq. According to the report, the individuals were killed during clashes this week, and Isabella Gonzalez, a 19-year-old from the state of Texas, was among those who died.
Citing the U.S. military’s Defense Casualty Analysis System, CBS reported that since the start of the war against Iran on February 28, the deaths of 14 U.S. service members and injuries to 427 others have been recorded. These figures do not include the 100 injuries and four deaths reported from the past two weeks.
