The anti-Taliban armed group known as the “Republic Front” has claimed that its forces attacked the Taliban’s police headquarters on Monday in Firozkoh, the capital of Ghor province.
The group said the attack inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban, but did not provide an exact figure. Earlier, local sources reported that a hand grenade had been thrown at the police headquarters, damaging the building. However, according to those sources, no casualties were reported in the incident.
The “Republic Front” is a newly established armed group opposed to the Taliban and is led by Tahir Zuhair, the former governor of Bamyan province. The group claims to operate in central areas of Afghanistan and has recently claimed responsibility for several attacks on Taliban checkpoints and forces.
