Summary

At least 14 people, including nine army soldiers, four police officers, and one forestry department employee, were killed and 24 others injured in a suicide attack on a security post in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to security sources, the attack occurred on the evening of Thursday, 1 Asad, when a suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near the security post.

As a result of the blast, 20 army soldiers and four police officers were wounded and transferred to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The condition of several of the injured has been reported as critical.

Security sources stated that the force of the explosion completely destroyed the security post. Search and rescue operations to recover victims from the rubble are ongoing, and it is possible that three soldiers remain trapped under the debris.

Following the attack, Pakistani security forces launched a clearance operation in the surrounding area. According to security officials, three armed assailants were killed during the operation.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. Pakistani officials have said that investigations to identify those responsible and examine the details of the incident are continuing.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan has witnessed an increase in attacks by armed groups in recent months, particularly in areas near the Afghan border attacks that have repeatedly targeted security forces and civilians.
