The Taliban have continued administrative and security reshuffles in Badakhshan Province, replacing the district governor and police chief of Nusay District while appointing a new police commander for Jorm District. The changes come amid growing internal disputes among Taliban members in Badakhshan in recent weeks, as well as an increase in attacks by opposition groups.
According to the Taliban’s announcement, Samiullah Rasouli has been appointed as the district governor of Nusay, while Hayatullah Almas has been named the district’s police commander. Meanwhile, Shamsullah Khalid has been appointed as the police chief of Jorm District and has begun his duties.
The Taliban said the newly appointed officials have been formally introduced and have started working in their new positions. The group has not provided any official explanation regarding the reasons behind these appointments and changes.
The replacement of officials in Nusay District comes after internal disputes among Taliban members in the district intensified in recent weeks. Local sources had previously reported rising tensions between local commanders and senior officials of the group.
The disputes escalated when Jumakhan Fateh, a local Taliban commander, along with forces under his command, refused to carry out orders issued by the group’s senior officials. According to reports, after several weeks of negotiations mediated by the Taliban’s army chief of staff, he recently left Badakhshan for Kabul.
