Local sources in Daikundi Province say Taliban intelligence forces raided the office of Radio Sedaye Qarya (Village Voice Radio) in Nili, the provincial capital, three days ago and searched the station’s equipment.
According to the sources, the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. Approximately 20 Taliban intelligence personnel entered the station’s office and inspected journalists’ mobile phones, computers, and other work-related equipment. The Taliban have not commented on the reason for the raid.
Sources also said that a few days before the incident, two journalists from Radio Sedaye Qarya were detained by Taliban intelligence forces in Sangtakht wa Bandar District. They were released after approximately five hours of interrogation.
Radio Sedaye Qarya is the only privately owned media outlet operating in the center of Daikundi Province. Local sources say restrictions and pressure on media outlets and journalists in the province have intensified in recent months.
Earlier, Radio Nasim ceased operations after Taliban intelligence detained its station manager and several staff members. The incident has heightened concerns about the deteriorating situation for local media in Daikundi.
Media freedom organizations have repeatedly warned of increasing repression, censorship, and restrictions on media activity in Afghanistan. According to these organizations, many private media outlets have either been forced to shut down or have had to alter their editorial content to comply with Taliban demands.
