Local sources say that on Thursday evening, 15 Asad, Taliban positions in Argo district of Badakhshan province were targeted in a rocket attack. According to the sources, the attack took place in the Daryakhana area, in Wadat City, the center of Argo district, as a Taliban patrol was passing through the area.
No precise details have so far emerged regarding possible casualties in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, and the Taliban have not yet commented on the reported attack or its consequences.
A local source said that the Taliban detained three people following the incident. However, no further information has been made available about the identities of those detained or the reasons for their arrests.
The incident comes as reports have emerged of an increase in armed attacks targeting Taliban forces in some parts of Afghanistan, ahead of the fifth anniversary of the group’s return to power.
