Naqeebullah Alimyar, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Police Command in Sar-e-Pul province, says that the group’s forces have arrested an individual accused of killing his wife and his wife’s mother in Kohistanat district.
According to the Taliban official, the accused fled the scene last night after killing his wife and mother-in-law with a pistol. He added that the individual was arrested following “thorough investigations and swift action by the security forces.”
The spokesperson of the Taliban Police Command has not released further details regarding the identity of the accused or the motive behind the incident.
According to reports, since the Taliban’s return to power, criminal incidents have increased in several provinces of Afghanistan.
Reports indicate that a large portion of these incidents stem from domestic violence, forced marriages, and disputes over inheritance and land. In many cases, women and children are the victims of these events.
