The television network “Tamaddon” announced in an official press release that on Tuesday (23 of June ), Taliban security forces surrounded its office, resulting in the suspension of its broadcast operations.
The network had previously also warned in another statement that, coinciding with the days of Tasua and Ashura, there was a possibility of a broadcast shutdown due to operations by Taliban security forces targeting its office.
Tamaddon TV officials have urged the public to closely and sensitively follow the situation and stay informed about further developments. They stated that the issue is still going on but declined to provide additional details.
So far, the Taliban have not issued any official statement regarding the siege of Tamaddon TV’s office or the suspension of its broadcasts.
This comes as the Taliban had previously announced, at the beginning of the month of Muharram, arrangements for Ashura ceremonies and the strengthening of security measures.
