The Taliban’s Economic Deputy Office says that 13 development projects, with a total estimated cost of nearly 1.3 billion Afghanis, have been approved during the latest meeting of the Procurement Commission, chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs.
According to information provided by the Economic Deputy Office, a total of 34 projects were presented to the meeting for review. Of these, 13 projects were approved, amendments were ordered for 16 others, the contract for one project was cancelled, and four additional projects were referred to specialized committees for further technical and financial assessment.
Among the approved and revised projects are the construction of a hospital in Jani Khel district of Paktia province, the expansion of telecommunications services and electricity transmission and distribution networks in several provinces, as well as the construction of some internal roads in Kabul city.
The Economic Deputy Office emphasized that the total cost of these projects will be funded through the Taliban administration’s domestic sources of revenue.
