The Taliban have burned nearly 16 tonnes of smuggled medicines in Helmand.

The Taliban’s Sub-Customs Department in Helmand Province has announced that, over the past two weeks, it has seized 15,941 kilograms of human, veterinary, and agricultural medicines that were being smuggled into Afghanistan from Pakistan. Following the seizure, the confiscated medicines were burned in the Rigistan area of Lashkar Gah city.

According to the department’s information, the medicines were being smuggled into Afghanistan through illegal routes.

Haqmal, the head of Helmand’s Sub-Customs Department, stated that no one would be allowed to import or export smuggled goods through illegal channels. He added that measures to prevent smuggling would continue.
