Local sources in Badakhshan say that the Taliban’s morality police in Raghistan district of the province have forcibly married a girl to an individual named Khalifa Raqib, without the consent of the girl or her parents.

Sources on Tuesday, 22 Sawr, stated that the Taliban’s morality police in Raghistan have announced that if a girl or boy is detained, they will be forcibly married in the offices of the group’s Department for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

According to the sources, Mullah Fazlullah, known as “Chamcha,” Nazarulhaq, known as “Dunyajo,” and Hamidullah, known as “Omri,” members of the Taliban, forced the girl at gunpoint into marriage with Khalifa Raqib.

The sources added that this act was carried out without the consent of the girl’s parents and without payment of a mahr (dowry).

The Taliban’s morality police in Raghistan have increased harassment and abuse of the district’s residents.
