U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that if Iran launches repeated retaliatory attacks in response to recent U.S. strikes, Washington will carry out even more severe attacks against the country, and Iran could potentially cease to exist as a state.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that if Tehran retaliates against the United States and repeats such actions several times, “they will no longer exist.”
He described the Iranian government as “crazy and stupid” and claimed that Tehran had attempted to reactivate its radar systems. However, he said Iranian forces were unable to obtain significant visibility through those radars.
Trump added that U.S. forces struck an Iranian target at a time when the radar system was nearly ready to be reactivated.
The U.S. president also said he has little hope of reaching a potential agreement with Iran, claiming that Washington has given Tehran numerous opportunities to reach a deal.
He said: “In my opinion, a deal with them isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.”
