U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran must enter negotiations with the United States or, as he put it, face the “Department of War.”
Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Trump said the United States had weakened Iran’s military capabilities far more than “anyone could have imagined.”
He claimed that Iran’s military capacity had been significantly damaged and asserted that the United States possesses the world’s most advanced military equipment. Trump also said that Iran is under a “complete blockade” and that no one is able to break through it.
The U.S. president added that Tehran has two options: either engage in talks with the United States or face a military response from Washington.
Commenting on the possibility of talks with Hezbollah, Trump said he is prepared to negotiate with any party, although some people oppose engaging in dialogue with such groups.
