Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has claimed that the military and economic capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been severely diminished and that the country’s military and command structures are facing extensive pressure. He also described the situation surrounding the leadership of the Islamic Republic as uncertain.
In recent remarks, Trump said that the Islamic Republic effectively no longer has a capable air force or navy, and that a significant portion of its military capabilities had been destroyed or damaged during military operations conducted by the United States and its allies.
He also claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has suffered serious damage to its command-and-control structure, with a number of senior commanders killed or otherwise removed from the battlefield. According to Trump, continued military pressure has significantly reduced the IRGC’s operational capabilities.
Regarding Iran’s naval forces, Trump said that a large portion of the vessels and fast-attack boats operated by the IRGC had been sunk or rendered inoperable. He also claimed that Iran’s aircraft and air-defense systems had sustained extensive damage.
Trump further alleged that some of the remaining IRGC personnel had abandoned their positions and were fleeing because of financial difficulties, unpaid salaries, and the weakening of the command structure. However, these claims have not been independently verified in full.
He also described Iran’s economic situation as critical, claiming that the Islamic Republic is facing severe financial shortages and inflation of around 300 percent or more. According to Trump, such conditions have placed significant pressure on the government’s ability to finance its military operations and pay its personnel.
Overall, Trump said that the continued military and economic pressure has further destabilized the power structure in Tehran and created greater uncertainty over the future of the Islamic Republic’s leadership. These remarks come amid differing assessments of the extent of the military damage, the condition of Iran’s armed forces, and the country’s broader economic situation.
