Local sources in Kandahar say that two young men in the province attempted suicide due to unemployment and severe economic difficulties. One of them died, while the other survived.
According to the sources, the two young men attempted suicide yesterday, Saturday, 17 Asad, by ingesting poison in the eighth district of Kandahar city. They were subsequently taken to a government hospital.
According to information from the sources, one of the young men, identified as “Jan,” died while receiving treatment, while the other was saved through the efforts of doctors.
The sources say that both young men had been unemployed for a long time and had consequently been facing severe financial difficulties.
Local Taliban officials in Kandahar have not yet commented on the incident.
There have previously been reports of young people in Kandahar and other provinces attempting suicide due to unemployment and economic hardship.
