Summary

The General Directorate of Emirati Companies has announced that the Shabashak mine, operated by the state-owned Northern Coal Company, extracts between 200 and 300 metric tons of high-quality coal each day. According to the directorate, the Shakol, Jihon, and Qarmal coal mines in northern Afghanistan are also actively engaged in coal extraction.

Officials stated that the coal extracted from these mines has a calorific value ranging from 6,000 to 6,500 kilocalories, describing it as high-quality coal. They also emphasized that extraction activities at the mentioned mines are continuing on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, experts have stressed the need for greater transparency in reporting coal production volumes, mining revenues, and the allocation of those revenues. They believe that transparent management of natural resources and accurate public reporting are essential for strengthening public trust and ensuring the effective utilization of the country’s mineral resources.
