German media have reported that a drone was discovered near Leipzig/Halle Airport, allegedly carrying around 50 grams of an explosive substance believed to have military applications.

According to a joint report by broadcasters NDR and WDR and the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the drone was found on August 14 in an area west of Leipzig Airport, around 10 days after a drone incident at the airport.

Citing security sources, the media outlets reported that the substance was likely RDX (hexogen), a powerful explosive used for military purposes, with the amount estimated at approximately 50 grams.

Earlier, on August 4, a drone-related incident occurred in the vicinity of Leipzig/Halle Airport. During the incident, a drone carrying explosives was discovered, and there were also reports that a drone had collided with a DHL cargo aircraft.

However, German authorities have yet to make a final statement regarding who was behind the incidents or whether there is a confirmed connection between the drones that were discovered. Reports suggesting possible Russian involvement have also not been officially substantiated.
