Local sources in Panjshir province report the arrest of a former Afghan military personnel by Taliban fighters in the Dara district of the province.
According to these sources, the detained individual is named Abdul Qadeer Sakandari, originally from the village of Masgaran in Dara district, Panjshir. This information was shared with the media on Wednesday, 16th of Sawr.
Sources say that Abdul Qadeer Sakandari served in military institutions during the previous government, but after its fall, he turned to personal work, including running a shop.
They add that about a month ago, due to economic difficulties, he returned from Kabul to Panjshir, but a few days after his return, he was arrested in the Masgaran area by Taliban intelligence forces.
According to sources, he was transferred to one of the Taliban’s brigades after his arrest, and there is currently no information regarding his fate.
Local sources also claim that the Taliban arrest residents of Panjshir without providing a clear reason, and in some cases, families are asked to provide weapons or military equipment in exchange for the release of detainees.
This comes as, following the Taliban’s reestablishment of control over Afghanistan, multiple reports have emerged of arbitrary arrests, killings, and abusive treatment of former military personnel.
