Summary

Local sources in Panjshir province report that Taliban intelligence forces have arrested a young man in the provincial capital on allegations of cooperation with the National Resistance Front. Taliban authorities have not yet issued any official statement on the matter.

According to the sources, the detained individual is named Shahin and is a resident of Khanzir village in Bazarak, the capital of Panjshir province. The sources added that he was taken from his home on Saturday, 23 Jowza.

Shahin’s relatives have denied the allegations of his connection to the National Resistance Front. They say he was engaged in agriculture and horticulture and had no military activity or links with opposition groups.

Based on local information, Shahin had recently returned to Afghanistan from Iran. Several days after his arrest, his family and close relatives still have no information about his whereabouts or condition.

The National Resistance Front has not yet reacted to the arrest or issued any statement. Further details regarding the allegations against him are also not available.

This incident comes at a time when local sources reported approximately ten days earlier that five residents of Dara district in Panjshir province were also arrested by the Taliban on charges of cooperation with armed opposition groups.

In recent years, Panjshir has been among the provinces where reports of arrests of individuals accused of cooperating with anti-Taliban groups have frequently emerged. These incidents have consistently been met with concern and anxiety from the families of those detained.
