Fazl Mahmood Fazli, the former head of the Administrative Affairs Office of Afghanistan’s previous republican government, has criticized recent remarks by Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief. He said that granting Pakistan the “right of self-defense” to conduct military operations inside Afghanistan raises serious questions about Afghanistan’s sovereignty and future.
In a post published on the social media platform X, Fazli referred to Kallas’s remarks in which she mentioned Pakistan’s right to self-defense. He added that this position is a continuation of the same stance she had previously taken in support of Israel’s right to self-defense.
He questioned whether Kaja Kallas wants Afghanistan to face a crisis similar to that of Gaza.
Fazli also claimed that Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and many other extremist armed groups were created or supported by Pakistan’s security and military institutions.
According to him, the recent remarks by the European Union’s foreign policy chief reflect a “double standard” on this issue and raise questions about the fairness and impartiality of international positions.
These remarks come at a time when concerns continue over the security situation between Afghanistan and Pakistan, tensions along the Durand Line, and the activities of armed groups.
