Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, has stated that in the military conflict between the United States and Iran, the situation has progressed in such a way that the U.S. has appeared weaker than expected and even been humiliated by Iran.
Merz made these comments during a meeting in the city of Marburg, Germany. He said that in such wars, entering the conflict is not the only important thing; there must also be a clear exit strategy considered.
The German Chancellor, referring to past experiences, added that the U.S. faced similar challenges in Afghanistan and Iraq and was unable to easily exit those wars.
He also stated that Iran has been skillful in its approach to negotiations or, in some cases, skillfully avoids them. According to Merz, this has added to the complexity of the situation.
Merz continued by saying that it is currently unclear what strategy the United States will choose to end this war, and there is no clear outlook on this matter.
In another part of his speech, the German Chancellor added that Iran’s leadership, particularly the Revolutionary Guard, has led to the humiliation of an entire nation in this conflict.
