Iran’s army commander, Amir Hatami, says that anyone who kills a U.S. soldier, or captures one and hands them over to Iran, will receive a $30,000 reward, equivalent to approximately 5 billion Iranian tomans.
Hatami said that if the act is carried out by an Iranian woman, the reward will be doubled.
Iran’s state-run news agency, IRNA, quoted Hatami as saying that the reward program was established after numerous requests from members of the public to participate in a financial support initiative.
Hatami did not provide details about the possible timing or location of attacks targeting U.S. soldiers. However, his remarks come amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, as discussions about the possibility of a ground offensive have also emerged.
He added that if someone kills a U.S. “aggressor,” the Iranian military will purchase that person’s weapon at twice its market value and provide them with a new weapon in return.
Iran’s Army commander once again called on the United States to leave the Middle East.
However, no clear evidence of a large-scale deployment of U.S. ground forces in Iran has been presented. In April, however, following the crash of a U.S. aircraft, the United States conducted an extensive operation to rescue its pilot.
