Local sources have reported that Murtaza, a 16-year-old boy who was injured during the Taliban’s suppression of protests in Herat, died in hospital on Tuesday.
According to the sources, Murtaza was wounded by two gunshots on 9 June (19 Jawza) during protests by residents of the Jebrail area of Herat. Following the incident, he was transferred to Herat Regional Hospital for treatment.
Information received indicates that the teenager had been under medical care in recent days, but ultimately succumbed to the severity of his injuries on Tuesday.
Earlier, the United Nations had also confirmed the killing of another teenage boy during the crackdown on protests in Herat.
