The Taliban government’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced that, for the first time in Afghanistan, a transportation company has been officially licensed to provide online taxi services, and the service has now been launched in Kabul.
In a statement, the ministry said that the initiative was undertaken as part of efforts to modernize transportation services and support the private sector. According to the statement, a private transportation company has been granted official authorization to operate online taxi services.
Based on the information provided, the service has commenced operations in Kabul under the name “Afghan Online Taxi.” Company officials stated that citizens will be able to conveniently request taxis through a dedicated mobile application and benefit from the service.
The ministry noted that the introduction of online taxi services is expected to play a significant role in improving the regulation of urban transportation, enhancing passenger convenience, and promoting safer travel.
Analysts believe that the digitalization of transportation services in Kabul and other major cities could help reduce urban congestion, increase fare transparency, and improve passenger safety.
