In the Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the Bara tehsil area, Pakistani police rescued a 54-year-old French woman and her five children from a house where they are said to have been subjected to restrictions and mistreatment for several years.
According to police officials, the woman had married a Pakistani national several years ago and had been living in Bara since 2014. Based on a tip-off, security forces conducted an operation at her residence and moved her along with her children to a safe location.
Officials stated that the woman told police her husband treated her improperly and did not allow her to leave the house freely.
Police have transferred the woman and her children to the Women’s Police Centre in Peshawar for their protection. A legal case has also been registered against her husband, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Reports further indicate that the French woman intends to return to her home country, France. The Embassy of France in Pakistan has also been informed about the case.
