Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, arrived in Shanghai, China, on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, leading an official delegation. The official visit will continue until July 17 and is aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation and participating in international events.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that during the visit, Ishaq Dar will sign the WAICO (World AI Cooperation Organization) agreement on behalf of Pakistan as one of its founding members.
The Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister will also attend the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026. The event is considered one of the major international gatherings in the field of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, bringing together government officials, experts, and representatives of technology companies.
According to Pakistani officials, Ishaq Dar will hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference with a number of Chinese officials and other participants. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding economic cooperation, technology partnerships, artificial intelligence development, and strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and partner countries.
Upon his arrival at Shanghai Airport, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar was received by Wu Wei, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai, along with senior officials from the Pakistani Embassy and Consulate in China.
