Summary

Sarah Adams, a former officer with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has claimed that Abdul Rahman Logari, the alleged perpetrator of the 2021 attack at Kabul airport’s Abbey Gate, had been released from Taliban custody.

Adams said she had previously identified the Taliban commanders responsible for his release and that her report includes their names and photographs.

She added that the report contains an internal Taliban document listing members of ISIS-K who had been designated for release. According to Adams, the list includes the name “Abdul Rauf Sangari,” which she identifies as Abdul Rahman Logari’s real name.

Adams has criticized the U.S. government, saying that insufficient action has been taken to bring those responsible for his release to justice.

The Abbey Gate attack, carried out on August 26, 2021, was one of the deadliest attacks at Kabul airport, resulting in the deaths and injuries of Afghan and U.S. citizens.
