Officials from the Afghan Red Crescent Society under Taliban control report that in the past three months alone, 59,833 Afghan refugee families have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan via the Torkham border crossing.
Shakirullah Shakir, an official of the society at Torkham, told the Taliban-controlled National Television that the total number of individuals in these returning families has exceeded 328,000.
According to Shakir, the returning families were provided with prepared meals, healthcare services, and temporary shelter facilities.
This comes as Pakistan has accelerated the deportation of Afghan refugees over the past two years, forcibly returning dozens of Afghan families to Afghanistan on a near-daily basis through various border routes.
