Local sources in Badghis province have reported the killing of a former soldier in the province. According to these sources, the individual lost his life in an attack by unidentified armed assailants.
Based on the published information, the incident occurred on Wednesday, the 19th of Hamal (March), and the victim was named “Rasoul Dad.” Reports indicate that he was targeted while returning from a recreational event in the Jowand district.
The sources added that this former soldier had returned to Afghanistan from Iran about two years ago and had been living in his birthplace since then.
This incident comes at a time when, in recent months, cases of armed crimes and targeted killings have been on the rise in various provinces of Afghanistan. This situation has raised concerns about the security of citizens, particularly former military personnel.
Most of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reports have highlighted the increasing number of extrajudicial killings and arbitrary detentions of former soldiers. The international organization has warned about the human rights situation of these individuals.
