Summary

Patman Amin, the wife of Hafizullah Amin, former President of Afghanistan, has passed away in Germany. Her relatives confirmed the news through messages on social media, but no details have been released regarding the cause of her death.

Hafizullah Amin was a controversial figure in Afghanistan’s contemporary history, and his short presidency was marked by intense political and security upheavals. After her husband was killed during the Soviet attack on Tajbeg Palace in Kabul in January 1980, Patman Amin was imprisoned for a period.

During the operation known as “Storm 333,” Patman Amin witnessed the killing of her husband and one of her 12-year-old sons, while her two other children were injured. Following these events, she and her children were transferred to Pul-e-Charkhi prison, where she spent approximately six years.

After her release, Patman Amin spent some time in Pakistan before migrating to Germany, where she continued her life in exile. The Facebook page of the National Democratic Party of Afghanistan described her as a “symbol of the struggle of the Afghan people and women.”
