Summary

Abdullah Abdullah, the former Chief Executive of Afghanistan’s Republican system, has called on traders, charitable organizations, and wealthy citizens of the country in his Eid al-Adha message to increase their assistance to the poor and needy during these blessed days.

In a published statement, he emphasized that affluent individuals should especially help families facing economic hardship, recently returned migrant families, and those affected by recent natural disasters. According to him, such assistance is a human and national responsibility for every Afghan in the current circumstances.

Abdullah Abdullah added that helping those in need is not only an act of charity, but also strengthens social unity, brotherhood, and brings spiritual reward. He urged all citizens of the country to keep the spirit of cooperation and compassion alive during the days of Eid.

Meanwhile, former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, in a separate message, described the ongoing poverty and humanitarian crisis in the country as deeply concerning.

In his message, he criticized the current economic and humanitarian situation and said that people’s problems must be taken seriously in order to reduce the levels of poverty and hunger.
