Officials in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, have announced that representatives from 50 countries, including Afghanistan, have so far confirmed their participation in the sixth edition of the World Nomad Games.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Nur Sultan Ednov, head of the organizing secretariat of the games, said that invitations had been sent to 100 countries around the world, and representatives from 50 countries have officially declared their readiness to participate.
He added that the registration process and accreditation of participants will continue until July 1, and it is expected that representatives from around 95 countries will take part in the competitions.
Ednov stated that a decision has been made to designate the city of Bishkek as the permanent center for the World Nomad Games. According to him, in the past, the project used to be transferred to other countries after the hosting period ended.
He also said that a final decision regarding the host country for future games has not yet been made, but discussions are currently underway with three countries, and interest in hosting the games has increased.
The sixth edition of the World Nomad Games is scheduled to be held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, 2026.
According to the organizers, around 3,000 athletes will compete in 43 different traditional sports disciplines.
These games, which are held every two years, were first launched in 2014 on the initiative of the Kyrgyz government, and at that time athletes from 19 countries, including Afghanistan, participated in the event.
