Alleged Rape by a Relative of a Taliban Official in Ghor’s Taywara District; Local Sources Report Intimidation of Complainants
Local sources in Taywara District of Ghor Province allege that a close relative of the district governor has been accused of sexually assaulting a young woman.
A knowledgeable source, who requested anonymity, told Toos News that the accused is the nephew of the Taywara district governor. According to the source, photographs and videos related to the alleged incident were recorded following the event. The source further stated that some of this material had circulated among local residents, but many individuals deleted it after receiving warnings from local authorities.
The source also claimed that the victim’s family has been unable to pursue the case freely due to concerns about potential repercussions and security threats. According to the source, the family attempted to file a complaint on one occasion but subsequently faced warnings and intimidation.
Preliminary evidence and information related to the case have been provided to Toos News by an individual who also requested anonymity. However, Toos News has not yet been able to independently verify all of these allegations.
Meanwhile, some local residents claim that during the current district governor’s previous tenure in Dawlatyar District, another individual accused of committing a similar offense was arrested and punished. They argue that the Taliban are now applying a double standard in handling the present case.
Toos News stated that it will seek comment and additional information regarding the allegations by contacting local authorities in Ghor Province and officials in Taywara District and will publish their responses.
