Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the former Foreign Minister of Afghanistan’s previous government, praised Richard Bennett’s stance regarding Pakistan’s attack on a drug treatment center and called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take practical steps toward filing cases and prosecuting those accused of war crimes.
Atmar stated that the ICC prosecutor should directly lead the process of announcing crimes, initiating legal cases, and prosecuting the accused individuals. According to him, reports and documentation from UNAMA, human rights organizations, and the media provide an important foundation for ensuring justice and pursuing legal action.
Earlier, Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Afghanistan, referring to Pakistan’s recent deadly attack on a drug treatment hospital in Kabul, called for a full and independent investigation into the incident.
