The leader of the Islamic Jamiat party of Afghanistan, Atta Mohammad Noor, says he has no bank accounts inside or outside Afghanistan.
In a statement, Noor rejected allegations that he was involved in the plundering of public assets, saying that the real thieves of the money and those who carried away bags of cash are known to Western countries and audit institutions.
Addressing his background as a warlord, Noor said he takes pride in being called a “warlord” and has no shame about the title. According to him, the label was given to him by the enemies of the mujahideen, Westerners, and Taliban lobbyists.
Noor accused the Taliban of seizing power through the use of force and said they are preventing the establishment of peace. He said Afghanistan has been “usurped” and that its people are struggling to live normal lives and even to breathe freely.
He also said that Afghanistan’s culture, values, and historical landmarks are under threat, while those defending the country’s rights are being labeled under various names.
