Local sources in Herat say that the body of a six-year-old girl was found inside a sack in the Jui Now area of central Herat city. The incident occurred on Friday, September 6.
A source confirmed that the child’s body was found inside a sack at around 7:00 a.m. on Friday. According to the source, there were signs indicating that the child had been suffocated with a piece of cloth.
The source said that the girl’s name was Maryam and that she came from a low-income family. Her family lives in the Ammeh Sakina area, in the 18th alley of the 12th district of Herat city.
According to the source, Maryam’s father is a daily wage laborer, and the family lives in a rented house. Sources provided no further details about the family’s economic circumstances.
Witnesses to the incident said that when Maryam’s body was found, a piece of cloth was lodged in her throat. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and the time of the child’s death remain unclear.
Information Daily’s source said that the perpetrator has not yet been identified and that the motive for the killing remains unknown. Taliban officials have so far made no comment on the incident or on efforts to identify those responsible.
