Local sources in Kunduz province report that a severe collision between two passenger vehicles on the Kunduz–Imam Sahib highway has left five young people dead and two others injured.
According to the sources, the incident occurred when a Toyota Aqua and a Toyota Corolla, both traveling at high speed, collided with each other.
Local sources further added that the impact was so intense that both vehicles caught fire after the collision, and several passengers died at the scene.
Based on available information, five people were killed and two others sustained injuries in the accident. The condition of the injured has not yet been confirmed.
Residents of the area say that all the victims and injured were residents of Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province.
Local Taliban authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the details of the incident or its exact cause.
Traffic accidents on Afghanistan’s highways claim dozens of lives every year. Excessive speeding, driver negligence, poor road conditions, and lack of safety infrastructure are cited as the main contributing factors to such incidents.
