Cristiano Ronaldo, the 41-year-old global football superstar, and Georgina Rodríguez, his longtime partner, got married on Tuesday in a private ceremony in the coastal town of Cascais, Portugal. The ceremony was attended by close family members.
Representatives for Ronaldo at the public relations firm Brunswick Group confirmed the marriage in comments to Agence France-Presse (AFP). According to the representatives, the ceremony was held in an intimate and private setting, with the couple’s five children also in attendance.
The marriage took place exactly one year after Rodríguez, a model and prominent social media personality, announced her engagement to Ronaldo on Instagram. The couple had been living together for several years.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez first met in 2016, when Rodríguez was working at a Gucci store in Madrid. She later described their first encounter as “love at first sight.”
Rodríguez, who gained wider recognition through her Netflix reality documentary series I Am Georgina, told Vogue Arabia last year that she felt an unusual sense of calm and energy from her first meeting with Ronaldo, describing it as though they had known each other for a long time.
Alongside their family life, the couple also share business interests, with investments in areas including fashion brands and hotel ventures. Together, Ronaldo and Rodríguez have more than 750 million followers across social media platforms.
