India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the final of the 2026 Asian Games men’s T20 cricket tournament, winning the gold medal.
After winning the toss, India elected to bat first and scored 211 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs, setting Pakistan a target of 212 runs.
For India, Abhishek Sharma scored 61 runs and Tilak Varma made 51. Shivam Dube scored 27, Shreyas Iyer 21, and Ishan Kishan 20. For Pakistan, Arafat Minhas and Ahmed Daniyal took two wickets each, while Abrar Ahmed and Saim Ayub claimed one wicket apiece.
Chasing the target, Pakistan scored 192 runs for the loss of six wickets and lost the match. Hasan Nawaz was Pakistan’s top scorer with 96 runs and remained unbeaten until the end. Saim Ayub scored 29, Muaz Sadaqat 23, Saad Masood 12, and Sahibzada Farhan 10.
For India, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar took two wickets each.
In the third-place playoff, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 63 runs to secure third place in the Asian Games cricket tournament.
Afghanistan’s national cricket team also participated in the tournament. Afghanistan defeated Japan, lost to Nepal, and their match against India ended without a result.
